BUCKSHOT

When a woman returns after years to her village that has turned hostile towards her, she has a lot to explain about the death of her cruel husband.

A psychological thriller about domestic violence, femicide and the fine line between perpetrator and victim.

BUCKSHOT (16’22”) is Julia van de Graaff's directorial debut, based on her own screenplay.

The cast includes Eva Zwart as Annet, Guido van Hulzen as Steven, Elisa Beuger as Marie, Stijn Westenend as the butcher, Dimme Treurniet as Harry and introduces Ilse van de Graaff as Trins.

“As the daughter of a highly emancipated mother—a nuclear physicist from the former Eastern Bloc—I view the recent rise of the so-called 'manosphere' as a form of regression; it is as if we are slowly slipping back in time, reversing the progress of a world that had become increasingly emancipated over the last half-century. To capture this sense of regression in BUCKSHOT, I opted as director for a somewhat archaic 1950s style, lending the story a certain timeless quality.”
